How I got there
I travelled from London City airport as a sole female business traveller. London City is my favourite London airport. It’s small but easy to reach with the DLR especially now with the Elizabeth line going to Woolwich and Custom House. As I am a German speaker, I took public transport from the airport to the hotel. Frankfurt is a safe city but always better safe than sorry and whilst a taxi might take longer, I would recommend taking one if you arrive late or feel uncomfortable in any way.
Where I slept
I stayed at the Flemings Selection Hotel Frankfurt-City |Hotel Frankfurt (flemings-hotels.com) The staff was very attentive when I arrived and check in was smooth. The rooms are not big but there are some nice touches eg free minibar, an iron and trouser press. Female business travellers with frizzy hair watch out – another hotel without a hair conditioner. I had a hard day at work and fancied going for a run. As it was after 9pm, I hit the gym. Watch the video how to get to the spooky basement gym…. It really does not feel safe for a woman travelling solo and maybe also for a man to work out. The gym was small but ok and there was another person working out (hence no video). Hotels, please do better for us female travellers, who want to work out on the road.
Self-care and staying active
I booked a Yoga class at https://www.balanceyoga.de/. It was easy to book and reasonably priced (EUR 19.90 for a one off class). The schedule is very freindly for business travellers, who only can access classes early morning or after a day in the office. There are classes at 7:45pm and 7am. I booked the 7am Yoga class in the city branch 4 minutes walk from the hotel. Studio was easy to find and well lit and had mats, blankets and other pieces of equipment. The class was in German but you could have followed along unless you have never done Yoga. There was a breakfast health bar, which was closed at 7am but open at 8am. I did not use the changing rooms. Class was fab and fun.
