How I got there
After a rather terrible or nowadays normal EuroStar check in and waiting experience in London, the train itself was fine. There is never any place to sit or work in the waiting areas and facilities to buy a coffee are limited. Coffee plays a big role in my travel life….Wifi tends to cut in and out on the train and even in premium or business, comfort and space is just ok.
Where I slept
I stayed in the Hotel Le 123 Sebastopol, which was a great location for me, close to the train station, the Seine for running and work. It had great reviews and a gym, which is one thing I always look for. I liked the style and vibe of the hotel and my room. It’s not ideal for the female business traveller on her own. There is no restaurant or bar on site and no room service. Sometimes, you just don’t want to do the dinner for one experience or lonely lady in the bar. I love eating out in Paris and sit outside with a glass of wine, so this was ok for me. There is free cake and there are free soft drinks available, which I liked (not the cake but soft drinks).
Check out the below for my review of the gym. It was in the basement with nooks and I would not have wanted to work out with my headphones at 6am.
Running, classes and self care
So, I actually did not use the gym as it did not feel safe and running outside was more appealing. I have run on the bank of the Seine before and I would rate it a 7 out of 10. There are enough runners to feel comfortable at dusk and it is easy to navigate as you can run a loop. It is beautiful and you can spot some sights. The downsides are that if you need to leave the path on the river for any reason, you have to run on a very busy road. Running underneath the bridges can be very smelly (urine), which I always struggle with.
Alright, I was planning to review a yoga class for you but work meetings overrun and I could not make the class at https://sputnikyogaspace.com. Website is in English, booking was fiddly as you have to sign up. They offer classes after work but no early morning classes. Share if you have found good classes in Paris or used Sputnikyoga.
